Frequently Asked Questions
Is your company licensed to do this sort of work?
Yes, as of the 6th of June 2015, it is a legal requirement for all agents to be licensed to carry out repossessions in New Zealand. All of our agents are employees of R & R Recoveries and are vetted before starting with us. All are licensed and all are familiar with the relevant sections of the Credit (Repossession) Act 1997 and the Personal Property Securities Act 1999. We have had the same team for the last 8 years.
Is there a limit to what you can repossess?
No, if the good/s are legally secured to you or your company and comply with the relevant legal statutes – we’ll pick it up.
How often do you visit a job in the Dunedin and Mosgiel areas?
We cover Dunedin and Mosgiel daily, we are based in Dunedin; we vary the visits anytime between the hours of 0700 and 2100 hours Monday to Saturday.
What is your area of coverage?
We cover everything below and including Oamaru right down to the Bluff.
How often would you visit the rural areas like Invercargill, Oamaru or even the West Coast?
The rural areas are harder to get to, we compile work from a number of clients and go on a shared km charge run where each client pays a portion of the km charge, this way it’s much cheaper for the clients. We visit Invercargill and Central Otago on average every 3-4 weeks. Having said that, if we have a client who has a very urgent matter in a rural location, we can be onsite within 72 hours (weather permitting).
How do you get the goods or vehicles back to a main centre and a secure storage yard like Turners Auctions?
We can organise the transport or towage (we don’t drive any vehicles ourselves to avoid any loss or claim of loss by the debtor – this way we are indemnified against damage claims). In regards to white ware and household/commercial items; each situation is different but if we are able to move these types of items ourselves – we can transport them with the agent at no extra cost.
Can you assist with organising the logistics for a job?
Yes; we have been involved in recovering from all sorts of companies and industries. Everything from restaurants and wineries through to panel beaters and farms. We’ve moved everything vehicle wise from aircraft and yachts to heavy farm machinery and trucks to cars, motorbikes and trailers.
Why is R & R Recoveries the best option for my company?
We have been in these regions for over 30 years – we have completed and recorded over 30,000 jobs in that time. In that time we have accrued a massive amount of information and contacts in the regions we cover – success in this industry depends on a network of reliable people. We have a good working relationship with Police in the rural areas as well – we always notify them when we are in the area. We know that regular contact with an agent is a problem in our industry as well; on the completion of the job we will be in contact within 24 hours by phone and/or email with the full report/invoice following 72 hours (more often than not – this full report/invoice will be through within 24 hours). If a job is ongoing – we update our clients weekly.
